The Citadel Rams are the experienced team of the league. Their offense recalls the Indianapolis attack of Peyton Manning and Tom Moore: few formations, a small number of concepts run to perfection, timing routes and classic play-action, with a veteran quarterback who reads the defense at the line.
On long downs the Rams lean on the intermediate passing game: curls, dig routes, levels concepts that attack the area just beyond the sticks. They rarely panic and rarely turn the ball over. Before the snap the quarterback often changes the play or the protection after reading the defense, the way Manning did at the line of scrimmage.
The Rams are balanced across offense, defense and special teams, without a glaring weakness. Their games tend to be decided late, by the team that makes fewer mistakes, which is usually them.
