Apex Vipers

Frontier Conference · Summit Division · Clinical red-zone finishers

Profile

“Twenty yards. Seven points.”

The Apex Vipers are specialists of the hardest part of the field. Inside the opponent's twenty, space shrinks and defenses tighten; that is where the Vipers' staff has invested most of its creativity, with red-zone concepts borrowed from the Erhardt-Perkins system that New England used to finish drives.

Bunch and stacked receiver sets create natural picks against man coverage. Mesh-wheel, spot and snag concepts flood a small area with more receivers than defenders, and RPOs and quarterback draws punish defenses that drop too many players into coverage. Motion is used to confirm whether the defense is in man or zone before the snap.

Between the twenties the Vipers are a sound but ordinary offense. Their difference shows up in touchdown percentage: the whole plan is to turn trips inside the red zone into seven points instead of three.

Identity: finishing, compressed space, situational calls.
