Granite Grizzlies
Frontier Conference · Summit Division · Run-erasing defense, balanced offense
Profile
“No room to run.”
The Granite Grizzlies are built to erase the running game. Their defense takes after the 2000 Baltimore defense: disciplined gap control, sure tackling and relentless pursuit, with every defender responsible for one gap and eleven players running to the ball.
Teams that rely on the run often find themselves in second-and-long against the Grizzlies, which is exactly where the Grizzlies want them. Their defense is rated among the league's very best and gives up very few long runs.
The offense is balanced and built around two tight ends, in the image of New England's 2011 attack: play-action from heavy sets, seam routes and matchups against linebackers. It is not flashy, but it fits a team that wants to win close games on the strength of its defense.
Identity: gap discipline, tackling, pursuit.
Strengths
- Run defense
- Tackling and pursuit
