Nova Raptors
Nexus Conference · Grid Division · Explosive, vertical, high-risk (big play)
Profile
“One throw can change everything.”
The Nova Raptors are the league's home-run hitters. Their passing game follows the Air Coryell tradition of Don Coryell and the modern version popularised by Bruce Arians: take shots downfield, and protect long enough for the deep routes to develop.
Unlike the spread passing of the Vector Strikers, the Raptors build their big plays on play-action. A run fake on first down pulls the safeties forward, extra blockers stay in to protect, and the quarterback looks for a post or a double-post behind the defense. The offense accepts a lower completion rate in exchange for much bigger gains when the ball does connect.
That profile makes the Raptors streaky. They can look stuck for a quarter, then score twice in three minutes. Their defense is good enough to keep them in games while they wait for the shot to land.
Identity: explosiveness, arm talent, shot plays.
